Artists Combined MCU Characters With Disney Villains

Various characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been mashed up with iconic Disney villains in an intriguing new collection of art. The sprawling franchise known as the MCU began with 2008’s Iron Man, with Phase 1 of the franchise eventually building up to 2012’s crossover film The Avengers after introducing Thor, Captain America, and The Incredible Hulk. Since then, the series has grown to include 30 films and 10 television titles, with many more coming over the next few years, with heroes like the Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man.

TikTok user enstatia recently posted a video of their fan art matching up iconic MCU heroes and villains with unusual counterparts from the Disney animated canon and creating mashups of the two. The video opens with Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and the Queen of Hearts from Alice and Wonderland combining into a card-carrying demonic figure very reminiscent of X-Men’s Gambit. The next up are Moon Knight (Oscar Isaac) and Bruno from Encanto, followed by Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl) and Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians, and closing out with The Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) with Ursula from The Little Mermaid.

Will Marvel’s Avengers Ever Crossover With Disney Characters?

While these mashups are fun to envision, there is a possibility that Marvel could cross over with classic Disney properties in the legal sense. Disney owns Marvel Studios, so the rights to the majority of both IPs are theirs for the wielding. However, given the sheer number of heroes and villains who already exist in the MCU canon, and how many are yet to come (including Blade, Adam Warlock, Deadpool, and Wolverine), it seems unlikely that such a project would be attempted any time soon in the MCU proper.

However, that is not to say that Marvel and Disney characters won’t rub shoulders in other forms of media. Indeed, Disney theme parks already feature costumed characters from both universes, so there is an established precedent for them taking up the same space in a very literal capacity. Disney also has a history of unusual mashups including their participation in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, a series of video games that combines original mythology and a set of characters from both the Disney animated canon and the world of the Final Fantasy video games.

The best place for Marvel Cinematic Universe characters to meet Disney heroes and villains alike would most likely be a video game. Their 2013 release Disney Infinity (which included characters from Disney, Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar) already dabbled in this field somewhat. However, this crossover could also take place easily sometime over the next few phases as the franchise explores the infinite multiverse, though it would most likely happen in a canon-breaking title like the animated series What If…?, which imagines alternate universe versions of popular MCU characters.
