New CEO of Warner Bros. Plans After ‘Killing’ Batgirl

This week, there has been a lot of news regarding the HBO Max team mess with Warner Bros. Despite a strategic shift in terms of titles, both production companies have hinted at anticipation of the film being delayed and it’s sparking more attention.

One of the films that has received this signal is Batgirl. Sure enough, the film, which has cost 90 million US dollars to produce, had to be canceled. The new CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, reveals his plans for the next 10 years.

“We have done a reset. We have set up a business. There will be a team with a 10-year plan to focus solely on DC. It’s very similar to the structure that Alan Horne and Bob Iger so effectively worked out with Kevin Feige at Disney,” Zaslav explained.

According to him, Warner Bros. Discovery can build a long-term growth business that is far more sustainable than DC. As part of that, they will focus on quality. They won’t be releasing any movies until everything is ready.

Their focus is on how to make each film the best it can be. DC is something that could be improved upon, and Warner Bros. Discovery is focusing on that right now, where DC has some great movies to come.

“Black Adam, Shazam!, The Flash, we’re working on it all. We’ve seen them, and we think they’re great, and we can make them even better. That’s what Mike (De Luca) and Pam (Abdy, head of the new Warner Bros film) did,” Zaslav said.

He also praised Warner Bros’ content, saying the Warner Bros. film group has a fantastic IP. Between DC, the animation group, along with the entire Warner library, their ambition is to bring Warner back.

With that, Zaslav might be referring to the fact that Warner Bros. as one of the biggest studio companies in the world, has shown some underwhelming results in theaters in terms of production, especially superheroes and the Harry Potter franchise. There are also plans to make HBO Max and Discovery+ a unified streaming platform with one global brand. The idea is to prioritize customer experience and quality, as HBO Max users often complain about the platform streaming for free functionality.
